A good friend of mine unfortunately lost his father this week. He was a Navy veteran who started an initiative to fund PTSD support thru the creation of a commemorative stamp. They are creating a petition for the president and/or the Post Master General to attend the funeral and lock in support for this endeavor.
Please take time to support and sign the petition!

Have not heard this but if it is true then screening for PTSD really needs to be scrutinized.

It is a true organization with the intent of helping with PTSD. The proposal actually will work/fund endeavors via the American Legion. Check out the websites on the petition link.

Didn't a veteran who had PTSD have his gun ownership rights removed because he stated his wife handled their financial affairs? This action was initiated by the VA from my understanding. If those assertions are correct, than I say it is ludicrous to sign a petition that would empower that type of action. And any military member who supports it would become the epitome of a blue Falcon!

Never heard of that. However, this petition has nothing to do with "removing" anyone's rights. It is about bringing awareness and enabling an organization (The American Legion) with resources to assist Veterans in need.

SGM, just researched it, it is true. Senator Grassley from Iowa is contesting it. It has happened to veterans on numerous occasions where they have been entered into a database which has flagged them as not able to purchase firearms.

Just read the article. That warrants a completely different thread! I do not agree with the VA flagging anyone in a database. However, I do support the American Legion and any effort that could assist someone with PTSD. We all know personnel that transitioned and have PTSD related issues that are contributing to financial hardships, relationship issues etc.. This is definitely not about empowering the VA to take away rights.
