So I saw my first military poser today at Wal-Mart of all places. Had Army ACUs, popped collar, what looked like a white turtleneck and Doc Marten's boots, patrol cap on indoors, no name tapes anywhere, Marine Corps Globe-and-Anchor on his pc, no unit patches and an American flag patch with no stars. I asked him what unit he was in, he responded with being an E-7 petty officer in the Navy.

Annnnnd, go...

That's not a lot of ribbons for a poser. I do like the Qualification badge

Yes. Saw one at McGuire AFB back in the 80's, in the MAC terminal, probably looking to get a free plane ride someplace. He was wearing dress blues, with wrong insignia, and patches where patches are not worn on blues. I tipped off an AF MP about the phony, and they said they'd check it out. Also have talked to a couple of dudes who claimed to have served, and in combat, but when I mentioned simple things any soldier should know, they stared at me blankly.

No. Not personally seen any in uniform. Had a couple that tried to join my American Legion post with doctored DD-214's.

Hitler and Stalin were both military posers. Hitler, a former corporal, posed as a military strategist and lost WWII for Germany. Stalin called himself "Generalissimo" and was only bailed out by the enormous Lend-lease aid the United States gave, without it Stalin would have been beaten.

Just a thought but maybe a handful of Marines who just returned from deployment could take care of him.
