why is my article 15 showing as an arrest on my record when fingerprints are ran? I was under the impression non judicial punishment was not supposed to be a criminal conviction? Additionally is there a way to get it removed?

That would only happen if you were arrested, and then subsequently received an Art. 15. The fact that the unit did an Article 15 doesn't make the arrest go away. You were still arrested.

Art 15's are NON-Judicial and are NOT considered as a "criminal record." In fact, neither is a Summary Court Martial; but in that case - depending on the offense, it may be in an FBI file - I forget what it's called, but certain offenses receive a numeric designation or ID and that may be in an FBI record.

without knowing the details your question is impossible to answer. Unless your article 15 was the result of or related to a civilian arrest it should not be on your criminal record.

Is this showing up on a NCIC as an arrest record or is it showing up on a FBI background check?

MAJ Byron Oyler - sure did. and the best part was we got back on schedule, finished early. I got my stripe back, an Air Force Commendation Medal and a personal letter of thanks from the General.
