So I got a weight waiver for BMT, and I leave in two months. I cannot go to the gym every day, but can do at home workouts. What are some good ways to gain weight in the next two months before I ship?

*details: BMI 17.65, 5’3 and 103lbs, would love to be 110 before I ship.

A1C (Join to see) I gained 7 lbs just reading this, have opposite problem.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches between meals will do it, shear weight gain.

You will need free weight work outs to gain 7lbs of muscle in two months. Recommend 6 small meals that have equal parts protein, carb, vegetable. Better if your food once had a face. Meal replacement shakes are good, just watch added sugars.

A1C (Join to see) I’ve not heard of eating waivers. Years ago, recruits were identified as under, within weight range or over weight. Drill Sergeants would yell “half rations” for overweight soldiers or “double rations” for underweight soldiers as they went through chow. Perhaps a proper era soldier will chime in...had not ever seen the practice.

If you have the weight waver I wouldn't worry about it. Better to be healthy and active. Fat without working out will not make BMT any easier- just harder.

CPT (Join to see) and A1C (Join to see) I would not worry about being under weight. Eventually the metabolism whammy is going to hit you and it will even out. The military is absolutely merciless with body composition if you are over.

It will be even harder keeping your weight up in basic. When I went I was 6'2" and 145 lbs. Drill sergeants paired me up with an over weight guy and every meal I got half his food and all his desert. Good luck.

Heard that. I went into the Army at 185 and left Airborne School 169. I was 199 when I left Baghdad, but all I did was lift during my free time.
