How do I determine what type of discharge I will get, and how that will impact my leave balance?

Hey guys so I may be getting chaptered and me and my nco are curious. I'm possibly getting a bar to reenlist due to missed hit times and if I mess up again I'll be chaptered. So what exactly would the discharge be under because my buddy got kicked out due to pissing hot for coke and only got a general under honorable. Now what does each discharge entail like if I get general under honorable and I have 54 days of leave saved what happens to it and can I take it because I still need pay until I find a job

You can't be kicked out for being barred. The chapter would be whatever the JAG recommends and the characterization would be at the recommendation of the commander. The characterization determines what benefits you receive during discharge such as selling leave.

LTC Jason Mackay awesome thank you both. Now I'm in hawaii so if I sell my leave days back is it based off of that because before my rent is taken out I get around 5500 so itd expect around 9-10k after taxes?

SPC (Join to see) the rate is calculated at 30 days equals one month base pay, you can sell 60 days max. Minus 22% for federal tax, plus state taxes if your state takes taxes.

Chaptered Soldiers do not get terminal leave. They are paid for the leave days that they have accrued.
Unless it's changed since I retired.

Thanks for answering, now when you sell the leave days is it based off of base pay or per month. I currently make 2k in base pay but since married and hawaii with bah I make around 5600 so If I got 60 days would I get like 11k before taxes or 4k before taxes?
