I just got to my first duty station Friday and I start in processing on Tuesday. Can someone please tell me some steps on how to get my family down here? I am married with a son. Also, how I go about getting housing and such? Will they give me guidance at in processing on how to do this as well? I heard you get a sponsor when will I make contact with them? Thank you.

While you in process, they should cover that. If not, ask one of the NCOs that work in the Inprocessing Company.

They should indeed give you guidance at in-processing. One of my daughters was married to a guy before he enlisted. She stayed with her mother and me while he went through OSUT at Ft. Leonard Wood. After he graduated he was sent to Ft. Hood. The Army sent a moving truck to pack out my daughter and their infant son. Housing was arranged for him and the movers took everything to Ft. Hood and unpacked them into Post Housing. There was very little effort on the part of my daughter and my son-in-law.

Please get with your Chain of Command ASAP so they can assign you someone to help with all of your questions (that’s what they are there for to help guide you through the process). They can’t assist if you’re not asking them these questions that’s presented here. Good luck to you...

Contact your sponsor. They should be able to guide you through everything. As far as moving, register with move.mil. Also contact on post housing and get that process started. Do you have your orders that list wife and son?

The reception center will have part of your on boarding where you will speak with folks for that. You should also immediately address this with your chain of command and immediate supervisor/NCO so it gets handled quickly

SSG, I haven’t met my COC yet I’m at HQ reception at Fort Bragg right now. Thank you though. I’m hoping next week when I start in processing when I go to the soldiers services center I can get more information. Thank you.
