I’ve heard the CW3 promotion list will come out soon. In the event I’m on the list, how do I know when I’ll be pinned and my DOR will take effect?

I’m aware I’ll receive a sequence number but I do not understand how this will work. Will I receive an email with a date I’ll get promoted?

I’m also on quarantine for the next 10 days so cannot access any CAC required sites.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I can only comment on the process for Guard WO's, it is supposed to be similar to RWO's. Slow, slower, and WTF is taking so fracking long!

The easiest way to figure it out is wait until the October promotion numbers come out. Subtract those individuals from the total selection numbers and then divide by 11. That will give you an idea of how many will be promoted each month. Then you just have to figure out where your sequence number falls in those 11 months.

You've probably gotten your answer by now. You'll get notification that you're either on the promotion list by letter from DA or not selected. You can also contact your branch manager when the promotion list will be released. Your S-1 will also receive the promotion list early, with a specified release date and the S-1 is not allowed to tell you until the release date. If selected, the sequence numbers for promotion, and they vary per month until the roster is completed, are selected a month prior to take effect the first of the following month. The Army Times is a good source for that as well as your S-1.

After the list is released, HRC will project the sequence numbers for promotion each month and will publish a separate list with projected sequence number promotion dates for the FY. Actual sequence numbers selected for promotion will be released monthly in a MILPER message. Your sequence number will depend on your DOR, so in general, the earlier your current DOR is in the FY the earlier your promotion will be in this FY.

If the Army system is similar to the USAF system in regards to Promotion Sequence Numbers, what will happen is the responsible agency will determine how many will be promoted in a given month. A message will go forth to the appropriate office saying "Promote Seq# X to Seq# Y inclusive effective on DATE. As for pinning, I can't say as I do not know if WO promotions are effective the first of the month or some other day.

Also, I do not have WOAC complete yet. I was scheduled to attend but was not able to due to COVID.

Am I required to have WOAC complete prior to being promoted?

without looking it up, I would bet it is similar to PME requirements at other rank tracks; complete within 1 year or revert back to prior rank. But that's just a guess

You are not required to be WOAC complete to promote if you are on active duty.

Each branch manager at HRC puts out promotion analysis information for every FY concerning CW3/CW4/CW5 PSBs. You should be able to view this information to determine what makes you a competitive WO for promotion, i.e. "at least 3 MQs", "assignment diversity", "suggested PME"....etc. It's clearly a little late now, but I suggest you tie yourself at the hip to your branch manger moving forward. They hold a wealth of information for you and your career. Good luck on the board, results are out tomorrow. I'm on this board as well.
