LTC (Join to see), if you're in a joint billet on a JMD, you don't have to apply for joint credit. It comes with the job. Your branch manager should credit you without you having to go through the process others have to go through to determine if your assignment is joint. I am in a joint billet on a JMD. I will get 12 months credit without submitting anything. Check with your branch manager though. You may be on a joint staff, but your billet may not be on the JMD.

COL (Join to see) thank you, Sir. I am going to work on getting a joint billet after my S3 time.

I recognize this is an older thread, but it's a new conversation for me. Here's a great primer on the Joint Qualification System (JQS), including how to "self-nominate" for joint credit...

Read the regulation, if you like to read, or if you don't, speak with your branch manager... LTC (Join to see)

Even if you are on a JDAL billet once you have reached your time and education requirements you have to be submitted to OSD for approval. Below is the Fact Sheet, but you need your HRC people to submit the memo before you can get 3L designator.

Hey Sir!
The billet has to be a JDAL on the JTMD (which "should" mirror the AD billets on JMD). If it is not, you have to get with your (J1) Manpower folks to start the process/request it. It requires justifications from the Active Force (as the Reservists backfilling/mirroring those billets). It is a process, but well worth it. I believe that Joint Staff meets twice a year to revalidate.

LTC (Join to see) - A fuller answer as I studied is we are required as officers to complete the following to be considered joint qualified (required for active component officers to become General Officer):
- JPME1 complete (ILE/AOC for Army or equivalent for other services)
- JPME2 complete (board selected for the course)
- 36 points (24 of which must be from experience (I believe 18 of them must be completed at O-4 or above) and the rest can come from other training or exercises) or complete a fully joint billet assignment
- SECDEF approves packet to become joint qualified
Once a General Officer there is a capstone for those attending their GO training.
Not sure if there is anything similar for Senior NCOs or not as I have seen on JKO some courses for Senior NCOs but maybe CMSgt (Join to see) can assist with that.

CMSgt (Join to see) - that would be quid pro quo and that's bad. However, I am known to bake or cook for the office once in awhile.....just saying if we were to be co-workers there might be dessert or family recipe foods brought in on occasion.
