How do you contribute to your local community?

I began volunteering my personal time as a volunteer firefighter/first responder in September 2008. It has helped me become very familiar with the emergency response system as well as emergency management in case of a large scale disaster. As a Soldier in a position to lead others, I highly encourage volunteer service to the community by any means necessary. I know that some Soldiers won't be able to devote near as much time due to schooling, family, and other issues. I'm just inquiring about other ways for my "future" Soldiers to improve the Army image.
