The racism he claims he faced. Not saying things were not said to him, but by who is not know and it is Boston but when a millionaire complains about how rough it is for him to play a game...I have little left in my bag of concern for him or her. I think IF his claims are true, then the advice given to Jackie Robinson in the face of true racism..."Hit the ball, make the catch, win the game."
Yes there are tough places to PLAY but this is no different than it was last week, last year or will be next week or next year. Adam Jones, IF it is true, hit the ball, make the catch, do your job.

MSG Brad Sand - Nah I dont agree with stripping Boston of their teams. Why does he need evidence when its evident that other players have experienced the same.

SSgt Ray Stone -
Why does a person need evidence when making accusations about another? Ray Stone hit me in the head with a rock. Other have hit people in the head with a rock, so you must be guilty of attempted murder...right? I mean, it is evident from history it has happened thousands of times, so it did happen this time?
IF we are not going to punish Boston for the actions of people at their sporting event, what do you think we should do? I go back to my original comment, Adam Jones, if you don't like what they said, make them regret it by beating their team,

SSgt Ray Stone - Why? It is likely everything he is saying is true. But having served at Bragg, where Black Soldiers painted racist emblems on their own doors to create racial tension where it didn't exist and having lived in a state where white girls claimed they were raped by black men to avoid being ostracized by their families, I generally want proof.

I was speaking about professional players complaining. Your job is to perform on whatever playing field you signed up for. I can reference back to Jackie Robinson. He withstood the worst of racism and yet he became a pioneer. I'm black, and in the military and guess what outside of the army, I've been called the N-word many times. Suck it up and drive on! I think if social media and news media was relevant as it is today, Robinson would still go out and ball out. Not saying he was all nonchalant about it but at the end of the day, it was bigger than him and he realized what his role was in changing the landscape of baseball. His play determined future opportunities for African American and minorities of all races in major league baseball. He knew he'd get the worst reaction from home and opposing fans. He still went out and ball. But he also kept in mind what he was brought there to do, and he knew his worth in the game. The same people who heckled him, was the same people who paid money to come see him play. At the end of the day, you make millions to play the game. We taxpayers, spend millions to come see you play. Regardless of race. So you do your job and let the rest take care of itself. No need for HURT FEELINGS REPORTS.

They also are well know for chucking batteries onto the field. Some people are far too wrapped up in games they themselves aren't good enough to play.

SGT Dave Tracy - Its funny, I was in Boston last year for business and I am not an American sports fan. That means I don't follow football, basketball, baseball, hockey, wrestling, etc. The only sport I'll watch is English soccer and even then, I'm not religious tho having an English wife, I have to "punch my card" when her team's playing.

But I'm in Boston, and every single person I met either on the job, at the hotel or in bars, etc, would just start talking about the Boston teams completely oblivious to the fact that I may not support Boston. They truly take their sports seriously.

MSgt Robert C Aldi - Boy you got that right. There was some play off going on when I was there and it was difficult to have any kind of non-sports related conversation.

I have to say that we should behave well with any kind of people, because we are all equal, this is a fundamental law, especially since there are many https://www.runnersblueprint.com/top-10-black-athletes-worldwide/ athletes who are known all over the world and it doesn't matter that the color of their skin is black, for me they are also people like we all are.

I am not sure what MLB as an organization can do except levy fines against a club, but the perpetrators do not feel any repercussions from this.

I think it is incumbent on fans of the game to shut this down and also on individual teams. Fans need to police their areas and teams need to issue and enforce bans, especially when fans are throwing things on the field and disrupting the game. (Also see the Hyun Soo Kim incident in Toronto and the Wayne Simmonds banana incident)

It is one thing to heckle someone based on their team, but to to bring race into it and throw things at players does nobody any good.

They can do what Europe does and ban the fans. So in addition to the fines, the fans would not be allowed to attend X number of games. Here's a recent one from last October...
