Recently I've been hearing countless remarks, and seeing posts from soldiers and veterans alike. Down talking our commander in chief. How do you feel about this? Should this be allowed within our ranks? Does freedom of speech really play a part?

Regardless of political party it boils down to ability, actions and service. The ability and actions of our current Commander in Chief have been far less than stellar. He likes the game of semantics and refuses to take responsibility for any of his actions. He places more value on diversity than defense. Our Military is dwindling in personnel and equipment. At the end of the day however, he is the President. But the oath is to defend this nation and the constitution. That is regardless of whether or not you like who is in office. You have to realize, we are able to voice our opinion’s here because of our constitution and all the soldiers now and those that came before us defending those rights. Your options are: 1) Vote for the one who best represents what you want in a leader, 2) Serve your Country and the people to the best of your ability. 3) Become part of the solution by moving forward and becoming a leader or 4) Quit, complain and become part of the problem. That’s my Two cents worth… and I served so that myself and others can offer them.

Criticizing any political "leader" is one of our fundamental rights. It falls under free speech and is protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. As a member of the armed forces however, you are barred from engaging in political activism while in uniform, but in civilian attire and not on duty you are free to engage in any activism which is legal.

I served under Clinton, Bush and Obama. I hated and continue to hate Obama with a passion for what he did to this country and the military. But while in uniform I would not bash him unless I was in a private setting and I was among my peers and it was during a discussion. When I public or outside a private setting I would simply say that he was the President and nothing more.

Not a problem it is called freedom of speech and now were told to bite our lips and move on Obama and joe have screwed our country with the woke bullshit and not only the boarder issues, so you tell me what is wrong with this country we are going broke for all the policies that they put in place ....... So, if you think there is a problem about bashing Our president then I think whoever says otherwise needs to look and listen to their own conscience

Name calling and bashing is one thing there is no place for. Disagreeing or criticizing anyone is part of why we have a democracy, I may not agree with you but as the CIC it is my duty to obey any and all lawful commands,

I think as a society we have become very tacky and divided. In general society needs a touch of class.
Soldiers that in service need to play by the militaries rules about political speech. Veterans on the other hand should behave as any other civilian.
No president should be immune to criticism. At this time it seems an entire political party is immune to media criticism.

You don't have to like the man, but in my opinion it's un-American to disrespect him

Soldiers and Veterans should not be asked to refrain from criticizing Presidents because it becomes a form of chilling their rights of free expression. It is often soldiers and veterans who are most attuned to the policies of the Presidential administrations and sometimes best able to give a hands on assessment of the policies, and even the accuracy of the media reports about those policies.

Perfectly okay for active duty to have an opinion and vote their preferences, but it is best to keep your opinions to yourself. If it's just talk among friends, probably no big deal, but you have to watch what you say about "offing somebody" or any talk about overthrowing the government. Even among friends. A lot of guys will say things in the heat of the moment or after few drinks, but not wise. AND NEVER IN UNIFORM.
As for veterans, it's a free country and we still have our First Amendment Rights (for now). But you should still be careful. You don't know who is listening, and what will be reported.

As a Veteran you have more than earned your right to talk about any politician, especially the communists. This should not even be a question. Now military, you're screwed. You have no choice but to support the communists but you can always get right by getting out.
