Recently I've been hearing countless remarks, and seeing posts from soldiers and veterans alike. Down talking our commander in chief. How do you feel about this? Should this be allowed within our ranks? Does freedom of speech really play a part?

During my 10+ years in the US Army, I never would have thought of being disrespectful by doing anything that was against the president or any one of leadership. It is not how I was taught at home or while in the service. Today, I think people don't care about AMERICA. Some are trying to get rid of our democracy, and I am doing all I can to stop that kind of hate! I have been all around the world and AMERICA is still the best country in the world. WE THE PEOPLE need to get together and take America back from those who have no respect for our country. Everybody is allowed their opinion, but when you take it a step further by causing harm to others, then it has to stop!!!! GOD help AMERICA.

In uniform or officially? Absolutely unacceptable. As a private citizen? First amendment right. However I agree that social media seems to encourage crudity and stupidity.

I don't care what your political affiliation is, but if you're an Officer, the UCMJ does. Article 88 is very clear on this matter. Worked with a Major once that criticize the President, was warned several times, but did not heed the warnings, when he received his OER, it was reflected and he saw the writing on the wall, he did not have "sanctuary" so he knew he had to resign. over 16 years down the drain because he was stupid.

About half the active-duty military members have to grit their teeth, no matter who is in the White House. We need to understand that this is the Commander in Chief, and it is the duty of everybody in the DOD to support the President. Some are Civilian Employees and need to observe the same thing.

Retirees and veterans are a different matter. Freedom of speech still holds. With that said, no matter who is in the Office, civility, facts, and good judgement is still the best policy, at all times.

If it is along the lines of "I am a XXXX, and I voted for candidate XXX, and I don't like/care/hate President XXX" I am okay with that. If you say he is not your president, the election was stolen, use derogatory remarks, and you're in uniform...that is a different thing altogether. It is almost like you want to be challenged.

Active Duty and Reserves are not allowed to criticize their seniors per the UCMJ. That settles that. Enlisted and Officers have been punished and kicked out for doing just that. By the way, much of what those service members said was true and verifiable, but they still shouldn't have been criticizing on FB or in person, or in a letter, or what have you.

Now us veterans, do have First Amendment Rights but it's still considered bad form because we do not always have all the information needed to make the right or best decision. And the chain of command listens to us less now than when we were in!

I do my best to dedicate my concerns to the Lord above and let him take care of those I have no power to influence. If they won't work with the Almighty and change their behavior, there is little hope of me being able to influence them. And, if you're complaining just to hear yourself talk, you have problems that complaining will not fix!

keep in mind that every president is accountable for their evil deeds - study the works of combat veterans like Smedley Butler (1881 - 1940) who was a two time recipient of the Medal Of Honor, and Howard Zinn (1920 - 2010), and Ron Kovic (1946 - ), and Oliver Stone (1946 - )

In my day it was not done period, if you did you would feel the raft of the command, we always had a briefing prior to elections. The order of the day was keep it to yourself and stay on mission. Nowadays, everyone seems to be about their rights to privacy, well keep it private, stay on mission and keep it moving. We are soldiers not civilians. We support the constitution, not a man, not a king, not a party, we don't follow illegal orders, every Individual soldier received classes and counseling on this stuff including race relations when I was in at Bragg. This was before the racist dude shot up his unit at pt. We were about soldiers and soldiering, we were being the best we could be and dedicated to the country. I served my country 4 four decades and it saddens me to see what is happening because of these less then men and I wish we did have a no get around it draft. Rich, poor, black, white, all male in grunt units draft. No problem with females, but grunt work is not for women and men are going to be men, if a female is with grunts in a battle we men are going to mess it up, because we are going to over protect them, not because they can't handle it, most can't but be cause we can't handle seeing them in the grunt life, you got to be nasty, mean and hard

An active duty service member may disagree with and / or not even like anyone in their chain of command.

They are free to hold whatever personal position they desire. They do not relinquish their rights as citizens.

For example, they are allowed to vote which means they are able to vote against their Commander in Chief. They are even free to actively campaign against the current CiC as long as it is done off duty and out of uniform, etc.

However, in the line of duty, they obey the lawful orders of their chain of command.

I think if you're a soldier, you should probably not do that. You are tasked with defending your country from foreign and domestic enemies.
If a President, such as brandon sucks as bad as he does. As far as I'm concerned, he's a domestic enemy. But I still don't think that if you are in uniform, you should outwardly Say anything. That is until we go to war against The domestic terrorist such as brandon. However, if you're a veteran, have at it..
100% ok.
