Support isis
Recently, 3 girls from Denver (14, 15, and 17) decided they wanted to join ISIS and were caught after flying to Germany while on their way to Turkey. In September, several college students signed a petition to urge President Obama to support ISIS. In my opinion, I think everyone involved are highly uneducated and we as Americans have also failed to instill pride in our own country if they feel they need to support a group like ISIS in order to gain comradery (which is what some believe). However, I also think that if they do manage to give support or join ISIS, they should have to live with their mistake and not get any help from the US Government.

IMHO, if these young men and women have allowed themselves to be radicalized to the point they attempt to join a terrorist organization, then are are free to join the ranks as they deem necessary. However, since they are making a very "grown-up" decision, they also need to accept the "grown-up" consequences. If they join the fight against us or our allies, they should be treated as enemy combatants as defined by the Geneva Conventions. The ills of the society at large aside, these young adults need to understand they will be held accountable for their actions/choices. Additionally, once they attempt/are successful in joining a terrorist organization, they lose all rights to return to this country.

I see a lot of things weakening our nation:
1) Laws tying down parents hands to discipline their children
2) Patriotism isn't taught at home and in the schools
3) Everything in America is made in other countries, including getting customer service for technology
4) Children aren't taught about pride and honor to serve in our U.S. Armed Forces
5) Violence is exposed and validated in movies, television, video games, music, and so on
6) U.S is neglecting its own and supporting other countries with resources needed here
7) It is kind of difficult to teach children to be honest when some government, city, and state officials is dishonest
8) Prayer is taken out of schools
9) No guidance because of absentee fathers

The younger generation don't care about their future.

Not really sure about #8, I wouldn't want my (theoretical) kids learning Christian dogma any more then I'd want them learning Islamic dogma. #5 is a bit iffy as well, violence in media's been pretty reliably disproven as a link to real world violence. Spot on otherwise MSG.

They have been greatly deceived. If they plan to become an enemy combatant their time amongst the living will be short.

There's stupid and then there's Westerners joining ISIS. The girls who go to marry foreign fighters are the saddest of the lot. Oh well. Schadenfreude fodder I suppose.

Seems pretty simple to me: let them go. But once they join a terrorist organization they are officially part of that group and therefore we should treat them like terrorists. They are no longer American citizens, bar them from ever returning to this nation even if years from now they come begging. If you decide to betray your nation and join up with the terrorists you get what you get.

When they join a group like ISIS, they renounce all things American and all things that we stand for. The individuals (whatever their personal reasons) are no longer a contributing member to society and they have become a threat to our way of life. I realize some of the individuals realize the mistake they have made, but if we took them back on their "word" that they have changed or seen the light, we would be setting ourselves up for failure. We don't negotiate with terrorists even if they are our own former countrymen/women

As far as I'm concerned, it's treason. Military court should over see it

People have questioned, "how do we stop them [from joining ISIS]?"

I say, don't. Let them go. Let them deal with the consequences of their actions. Revoke their citizenship and void their passport. Bar them from boarding any vessel or aircraft destined for the U.S. or any of our allies. Rather than sending the FBI to apprehend them and bring them back to the U.S. (where they could presumably commit a domestic terrorist attack upon their release), send the FBI to conduct a full-blown investigation and charge anyone with treason who assisted the traitors in their ill-conceived quest.

We don't need them soaking up tax dollars and occupying a prison cell while they await their day in court and serve their ensuing sentence. The terrorists whom they are running to will take care of their just deserts just fine...

If we want good citizens we have to offer good options. And we do, however you can't lead a horse to water. There will always be a deviant factor. If you fight against our country you should lose your citizenship and be treated as the traitor you chose to become. If you choose to fight against another country there are rules you must observe.

We have to teach values in this country again.  That is one thing we haven't taught kids in long time and how to be good citizens.  The price that was paid for the freedom that we have in this country.  The people of today don't understand that.  As for anyone who wants to go off to join to join their cause.  Well they are more than welcome to, but once they do, they have to understand they have become the enemy.  As such, all rights they were had to before are void while taking up arms against us.  As an armed combatant, they shall be treated as all other armed combatant until they surrender.  Enough said about it.

PV2 Shaull--strongly agree. However, such values must be focused on the GREATER GOOD if we are to survive as a nation. We have destroyed nearly every institution including the family unit. The pendulum does swing to and fro; perhaps we now see things moving more to the conservative right. Someone will always find fault no matter what position we take.

Yes I strongly agree with that addition. I have said for years we have parents who were raised by parents who were friends more than they were parents so the kids were never taught how to be parents to begin with. So now they are raising their children the same way. People from my father generation don't and/or won't take the time to understand that at times. There is huge Generation gap starting with my generation because some parents started to take the easy way because they were either single parent, drugs, jobs, or because mental health professional told them they could, or for several of the above reasons. When I was child we didn't have 24/7 society of going to the local grocery story or fast food place to get stuff. They were closed at night and most places were closed Sundays. Back then you were lucky to find a Gas Station and a sit down dinner outside of the local hotel/motel that were open on Sunday(and their Front Desk weren't staff 24/7), Hospital, and such. Saturday and Sunday were the weekend. Sunday was the day for family and worship(in many families). On the down side things weren't discussed either back then. If I had known half the issues on either side of the family, I probably wouldn't of joined the Army. Depression, Anxiety, Asperger's(which wasn't known of then), ADHD(same and before everyone wanted a pill for it), or Asthma. I probably would of never signed up to go Army Airborne Infantry. So thank God for times of deniability.

MSG Huffman...haven't you heard about our Catch and Release Program? We do that with criminals, such as illegal aliens. Why not with armed enemies? We can keep their weapons and call it gun control...

Any American that joins Isis is a traitor and should receive the death penalty.
