How Does This Soldier's Message Make You Feel?

We don't do a very good job explaining the responsibilities we have as soldiers to fulfill our oaths of enlistment. The only reason to publish something like this is to pretend that you speak for soldiers. Obviously, this Specialist speaks for no one but himself, and he needs to have that explained to him honestly, professionally and courteously. Next, he needs to understand that the uniform and the flag on his right shoulder and Screaming Eagle patch below it are not props. (Pass over why does he have his ACU cap on indoors?) Finally, someone needs to explain the limits to his decision making authority while in service to the Nation. Basically, we give the sign up, swear an oath, and we give the nation a blank check on our lives, our future, our hopes and our dreams. For so long as we are under that oath, that check is waiting to be cashed.

Excellent post. But I think the young Specialist is barking up the wrong tree by posting that sign. I believe that it's not His decision on wether He gets deployed to Ukraine or not. He should've spoke to His Team Leader before taking that picture and posting it like He did. Last time I checked this is what He signed up at a MEPS to do. There's always the option of Him to take himself out the the Army. Just My opinion here.

Doesn't seem to me that he's a real soldier. Why did he sign up? If America decides to do anything of the things on his list, what's he going to do? go AWOL? get out? Why did he join in the first place?

You took a damn oath to follow the orders of the President of the United States and the officers appointed over you. Don't like what they might ask of you? Call yourself a conscientious objector and get the heck out.

This is hella inappropriate. Someone knows who this soldier is and they need to check him.

This younger generation of service members have no clue as to what they are supposed to be doing ( NCO’s) need to do their job and have more classes. Stay out of uniform if you want to PEACEFULLY PROTEST, that’s all you’re entitled to do.
