How does your Commander's performance on their PT test influence your opinion of them?

Do you think more or less of a commander if they get the maximum score possible on their APFT (or whatever test your respective service takes)? During my enlisted days I don't think I ever had a commander who was a PT stud. If I had a commander who couldn't pass a PT test I might honestly think less of them, but I don't know if they really need to blow it out of the water. Thoughts?

As an NCO, I really don’t care as long as the commander holds himself to the standard that the 1SG and himself hold everyone else to. If there’s a “unit standard”, I expect command to uphold their own standard. Expecting your soldiers to do better than you is not how you lead from the front.

FDR had Polio and spent a good chunk of his life in a Wheel Chair. He would not have been a good fighter would he? Do we think anyless of him as a man? He led us through the worst economic situation the world has ever seen, and the largest world war. I could care less what my commander scores. Are they a leader, do they quit, can they get the job done? General Stormin Norman Schwarzkopf had a barrel Chest, does any think he scored a hundred points on this run? Male female, or one of the other so called 64 classifications of human beings (don't get me started on that one) I give a damn about that. If you can lead us like Patton or Alexander the Great I don't care what you PT score is.

If I’m given a standard I have to hit and my leadership can’t hit that standard that is hypocrisy and I will think less of them. If they can’t even pass a pt test, all respect is lost

To me, that come under the "lead by exmple" rule. Not every one is evn capable of 100%. But pushing your own max effort shows.
