I keep getting emails about reclassing to become a 51C. There doesn't seem to be that much information on how the job actually is or what it does other than "contracting". So i wanted to get some feedback on those who have experience with this MOS.

Specifically, how is it? what is your day typically like both busy and normal? Do you deploy? whats your time with family look like? and of course, lastly, do you enjoy it and do you recommend it?

Day to day life can differ depending on what your mission is. We don't just do contracting we are business advisors to senior Commanders as well. October through December are usually slow but July through September are extremely busy. We do have a decent deployment optempo and random stateside missions that have to happen (border support is one). I get plenty of time with the family. This is an MOS that can set you up for after the Army. You are required to get a bachelor's degree and most of us have a Master's or are very close to having one. The biggest thing to this job is being quick on your feet and self driven. I was a scout before I reclassed in 14

SFC (Join to see) sorry if it feels like I’m bombarding you with questions lol. When you go to MOS training does your family come with you? Do you need to work on your degree on your own time? How long are you typically gone on mission? Do you get to pick stations or is it needs of the army?

SSG (Join to see) training is a 60 day TDY. Family doesn't go. Degree can be completed at work but workload takes priority. Missions are dependent on the situation. I have gone from 2 weeks to 9 months. Needs of the army.

SGT (Join to see) I just saw this message. I have deployed twice in 6 years and they are 9 months. If there is a natural disasters or a declared emergency in the states, a 51C is going to be there or very close by.
