In the Air Force, I have seen people kept on one base their entire careers. It differs based on need, rank, security clearance, and so forth. There is nothing that say they can't keep you on a base if the need is there.

I spent 6.5 years stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ. I could have moved to bragg or drum or Korea but figured there wasn't much point in moving from one deploying unit to another.

By the time I retire next year 16.5 years will have been spent on Camp Pendleton. I do have deployments out of here but most of my time has been here.

Well if yo want to be technical I have never been here for more than 4.5 years straight. I have 3 seperate PCSs then PCSd back here after 10-12 months two of those were for long schools and the other I came back due to a humanitarian transfer to a location that could better support my child.

In my 20 I spent 15 on Camp Lejeune. Spent my first 3 then PSC to Okinawa for a year and right back to Lejeune. Deployed from Lejeuneuntil my last PCS to I&I Duty in 2000.

We do have that possibility as Marines since there are only a handful of bases that we can go to to begin with.

Yes as Marines we can do that, but the opportunity to serve world-wide is through deployments from your home base.

Once u get here to fort drum it seems u get stuck. My buddie has been here 5 1/2 years and I know a 1sg that has left then came back after leaving a few times. But most of his years wer here. I jus need to get outta here. This place will drive u crazy. But I will say I have had lots of good training.

Do you have a family? You can go to Korea with your family, and you normally can choose your return station or at least I did but I did not have my family there. You might like Korea as it is beautiful, there is so much to do, and the shopping is endless.
