How long do you think it will take before someone uses the Stolen Valor fervor as a reason to kill?

I personally think a veteran or active service member is going to kill someone over alleged stolen valor before the reverse happens. To protect ourselves we can stop being such assholes and overly offended and instead of filming hateful and angry confrontations and publishing it online for all to see, simply document it and report it. It would also help to not accuse every single case of a person in fatigues as stolen valor. In other words do the same thing that we need to do to Muslims, Sikhs, other non Christians, and people who aren't white, which is quit being assholes to them, that is what is feeding the reciprocal hate.

God, I hope not.
It has been my contention for a long time that the videos you see of confrontations are just showboating for the camera. Bad behavior doesn't get fixed by more bad behavior.
If you see it, take the offender aside, ask some pointed questions, and "encourage" them to do the right thing. There is no need to make a scene, unless you are trying to score "likes" or "shares".

It's only a matter of time before some loser goes into a bar and tells a woman he's scamming that he's Chris Kyle and his death was an elaborate hoax so he could go shoot some more bad guys. Then a vet or AD guy is going to probably take it too far.

A potential solution: Since stolen valor is a felony, we need to make it easier for us to report it and get action on it. It should have a priority for the police to respond of slightly higher than a minor traffic accident. After all it is a felony. I would love a 1-800 number to call when I am out and a fat troll is on a bar-stool with a frogman trident, ranger tab, CIB, CAB, jump wings, and a medal of honor on a tacky vest scamming free drinks out of people on veterans day (sadly I saw that guy in Phoenix). If there are other avenues to relieve our frustrations then we run a better chance that those will act as a relief valve and keep one of our weak judgment brothers from exploding on one of these guys to the peril of their life.

I'm in favor of sending stolen valor maggots to a form of stolen valor SERE school. 1 month punishment should be a good reminder of what they didn't earn their way through.
