How long does it generally take to go to AIT once your grade determination is approved?

Prior service Marine going to get a change of scenery in the Active Army. I’m scheduled for MEPS shortly and I don’t need any waivers or to talk to a recruiter, because I already did.
I know it’s a case-by-case thing, but I was curious how long it generally takes to be back in the fight once the determination is approved and you get assigned your job. Anyone have any experience in this arena? I will be going straight to AIT if that helps.

This is what a great answer looks like. Short, to the point, and not a dick. Have a thumb.

Once you are all done with MEPS, I would venture a guess it should take no more than a month to get orders cut for your AIT.

Thanks, I’m mostly just trying to figure out the average time before I get that sweet, sweet TRICARE.

Your grade determination should have specified what MOSs you would retain your rank in, when you go to MEPS they still have to see if those jobs are currently available. MEPS always tries to ship you ASAP to fill class seats. If the job you want isn’t there, don’t feel pressured to say “no thank you“ and try to come back another time. Job availability changes all the time as people reserve/drop jobs for various reasons.
