I'm joining the Army from the Marine Corps and I'm trying to do the same job as a cook in the army and they're doing paperwork to see if my job translates to army cook, which it should because we did our training at the same base and sometimes even together. I've been through everything else at Meps this is the only thing I'm waiting on. My MEPS ia at Ft lee in Virginia, but so was the MOS training and AIT training for food service. It's been a week and it seems a bit ridiculous that it should take this long to say it does translate.

I knew a platoon Sergeant in the National Guard who was a master gunner basically he was the instructor for gunnery. He was also civilian at China Lake and he had to transfer to the East Coast. He could not join the Marine Corps Reserve as an E7 he could join as an E-1 or E2. I also know Marine who was a corporal and he completed his basic noncommissioned officers course. He went to the Army Reserve as a specialist and a mean he was promoted to Sergeant. The United States Army will accept your credentials.

Never give up earned rank, it is a scam for any military service to take something earned for the sake of them just saying so. Always ask to see the “requirements” in writing and usually you get the run around...

A retired Marine command sergeant major was talking to me at the Orange County Sheriff's gun range. The Marine Corps is particular. Because I asked him that same question. Bringing up that both schools were at Fort Knox and this guy is a master gunner and he could help tank Crews qualify at Gunnery or anything else. It's one of those Marine idiosyncrasies that we can't do anything about.
