I graduated PA school in August became board certified August 31st. My application for direct commision in the Army was sent off in September and I was notified that I was approved by the board at the end of October. All I am waiting for now is my scroll to come back from congress and I'm getting stir crazy with the wait. Anybody have any idea how much longer I have to wait for the scroll to come back?

Takes anywhere between 30-90 days during normal times. I was approved by the board in October. Received scroll first week of December same year. Just be patient. It’s an election year and also due to covid stuff is probably moving slower. The important thing is you got selected and got moved on for scroll approval and you have a slot.

I am in the same boat as you. I applied for 71B. Got my board approval mid November and have been waiting for scroll process as well. It’s the “hurry up and wait” moment. My recruiter said it could be anywhere from mid December to March that I hear back.

I was accepted at the same board for 71b. I’m interested in hearing about it from your perspective! My recruiter mentioned the same timeframe for commissioning.

S M what would you like to discuss? Regarding timeframe, my recruiter said told me mid December, then his commander told me could be up to March. Later the recruiter said his commander informed him that our AOC do things on their own time frame. Was interesting to hear that. Maybe we will meet each other at DCC or BOLC this year.

I am applying for 67J Direct Comission. Where do you see the board results? I have looked everywhere. I can't find anything related in any MILPER message.

How long is the usual wait time for a direct commission scroll to fully process?

I waited 6 months from scroll to orders to my duty station. I just kept myself busy and finally got in. It’s worth the wait in my opinion. I’ve been to Iraq and experienced so many opportunities I would never have in the civilian sector, plus pay and benefits is better. I am in the Nurse Corps, I imagine PA would be similar. Also made many PA friends downrange, your AOC is gold in Army Medicine. Hopefully you won’t have to wait as long and congrats.

Four years ago, my AMEDD direct commission took roughly 4 months.

You may be further along than you realize. The G1 tracker can be delayed by about 2-3 weeks. As the other posters have stated be patient, it will happen, you are on the scroll. My recommendation if you are going to Reserve or Guard is to start working on your credentialing packet. This is the next big step once you receive your commission along with BOLC and basic course.

Enjoy your AD time! It will be an excellent experience! Your worst day can always be your best day. Remember always be an advocate for your troops if you are at the BN level. Work closely with your BN staff. Get as much field time as you can. This is where the rubber meets the road. Anyone can do clinic time. Feel free to reach out if you have questions!

It should take between 3-6 months but, with COVID everything has slowed down considerably. Just keep in touch with your recruiter with a call or text once a week.

Thank you everyone for your responses. It's hard to find a job right now due to my state, Kentucky not being PA friendly and more Nurse Practitioner dominated. I am just anxious to serve my country and finally put my training to use! Again the responses and personal references to your own situations is very very appreciated!

Before COVID the paperwork was done in 30-45 days. With all the delays from government shut downs I would imagine months is the correct answer. If you log into the Army HRC website does it show your rank and other personal data? That might at least let you know they are working on it. Best of Luck!

I’m sort of in the same boat—waiting on my scroll. Is HRC available to people who have only been board selected? Thank you, Sir.

It was submitted at the beginning of October and it came back at the end of December. I commissioned in mid January but I am still waiting for active duty orders

Oh that’s not bad! Good to know. Mine was submitted first week in February. So I’m really hoping it comes back by end of April. Do you know where your going yet? I’m going active as a nurse practitioner. I was told I should commission and move by this summer. Im just so anxious and inpatient lol. I want to commission so I can get a better idea of where I’ll be going. Hopefully you don’t wait much longer for your orders.

I have a similar question. I commissioned via FAP for 60W general surgeon (I'm a PGY 3 in residency now). I signed my contract back in June 2020. Had to go back to MEPS because the process up to that point took so long that my original physical had expired. Everything was sent in back in September. Now it's February 2021 and still haven't received orders, stipend etc. Is this usual?

I’m getting stir crazy too. Congratulations on your selection. I am a NP and was selected to go Active ( Currently reserves). I got promoted to CPT in the reserves, and so they had to submit a new scroll, and it was submitted last month. I’m really hoping I hear something by April. Congratulations.
