How long should it take to be "pinned" once you have your promotion orders in hand to the rank of Sgt?

I was promoted on 1 June 2015 to the rank of Sgt, it is now 16 July 2015 and I am still waiting to get paid. My PSG, 1SG and CDR are all tracking and having me perform all my tasks as such but still haven't been pinned. Should I continue to wait or take the issue higher?

You say your PSG, 1SG and CDR are "all tracking", well if they were truly tracking, you would not have had to ask this question because you would have been pinned on 1 June 2015. You would have also seen the change in pay by 15 June 2015 at the latest. Giving you "tasks as such" is not tracking. They are failing you and need to be involved in getting you pinned and to have your LES reflect the change in rank and back pay issued ASAP. I would ask your PSG the question of when you are getting pinned and your Operations SGT about getting your LES fixed.

Take your orders to your S1 and have them send it to DFAS or you do it yourself depending on your status. As far as getting pinned. You can wear it as soon as you get your orders. I would ask your commander to pin you at first formation tomorrow. Otherwise just put it on if you don't care for the ceremony.
If you want your family there, then I would plan ahead.

You e got the orders which means you're getting paid which is the first thing to remember.
Promotion to SGT is a big deal and it has been my experience that chains of commands like to make a big deal out of it, which may explain the delay. As long as they are tracking you have nothing to worry about, no reason to go hirer in my mind just keep on it. Maybe let them know you might have friends or family that would like to come to the event.

Ok awesome thank you SFC. Also thanks for the idea on the tactful way to approach the question.

Honestly, once the message comes out, and approval is completed, the "pinning" should be done at the earliest possible time. As in, Message comes out June 1, 2015 (or 15 days prior), you should be "pinned" June 1, 2015.
This does a few things. First, it recognizes you as a Sergeant publicly, bestowing all faith and confidence, and bestows the power of that rank in you. Second it reduces the possibility of other issues coming into play. Unless there is a specific reason why you should not be pinned, the pinning should be done.
Pay is important, but Authority, and Responsibility are why we have the Rank. Pay is compensation for the scope of responsibility of the duties of the Rank.
Pay will catch up. Once you are wearing the rank, that is an administrative concern which can be addressed the following "pay period" (one month later).

It should be automatic on your DOR (orders generation and promotion). I'd go speak with your S1 or finance directly and get things rolling. Congratulations, by the way.

Thank you SFC, though I am getting paid, and I have my promotion orders from my S-1. The issue is simply my 1SG wanting to do a battery ceremony to pin me and has taken a month and a half to do so.

A key to being successful as an NCO is follow up and verification. Continue to engage your leadership, it may have fallen off their radar.

SSG (Join to see) I had something similar when I picked up Sgt. I had just got to a new unit, and the Director (CO equivalent was TAD). They wanted to delay until he returned. MY NCOIC was of the opinion, "what if something happens between now and then?" Not that anything would, but the rules change in the USMC when you are an E5 as compared to an E4.

Roger rules change from SPC to SGT in the Army as well. I do appreciate the incite, once I get off my CQ recovery I will tactfully bring it up again. As in my current situation I'm breaking regulation by being a Sgt wearing the rank of Spc therefore placing me out of uniform.

In the national guard, I've seen it take MONTHS for guys to get pinned. They'll do a formation, publish the orders and the guy's date of rank was 5-6 months ago.

SSG (Join to see) 45 days is way too long for a formation, I would talk to your Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant for them to tell the battery leadership to do the promotion immediately or take it to the CSM or the IG

All pay and records reflect the promotion. The duties mentioned above world be CQ "NCOIC" and things of that nature. It's simply a matter of how long should I have to wait to wear my correct rank?
