Steve, I think your comments were spot on. The one thing that really concerns me about this outbreak...beyond the size and scope...and the fact that this time it is not burning itself out quickly...but how many people who 'know' what they are doing are becoming an infected? All but two of the cases in the US are...well I have not checked the numbers since lunch, so this might not be correct...health care professionals, who are willingly going into hot zones? What is really going on? Why are we not hearing more questions like we see on RP?

I agree Brad. There are questions such as you posed here that are not only being unanswered, but it appears that anyone in an official capacity, A. not asking the questions themselves, and B. why aren't journalists asking them?
I noticed when the news broke about the nurse, the press followed the official response like a pup on a leash. The big story here is not to put a blame on something, that can come later. This nurse contracted it rather quickly, and it seems to me the administration, and its kennel of dogs are trying to downplay this. To a degree, I understand that you don't want to create a panic, however, keeping the public in the dark will only serve to advance the disease.
I can already see signs of panic in certain industries.

The problem about keeping the public, is that in this case, people could die. I hope all my concern is for nothing and nothing comes of this but it does not even seem like the Federal government is learning from its many mistakes?

I am with you in your assessment Brad. I think they are so wrapped up in their own little political agendas and how they can use this situation to their political favor to actually learn or even care.

Kermit, I like the way you think.
PO3 Shaun Taylor I think if had them land and go through a screening process in the Capital building, we might get some quiick action? Might remind those elected what they are supposed to be protecting and it is not their reelection.

Just let us know if you guy's start heading to the Antarctic on secret mission to discover the original Ebola virus…if I lost you, you need to watch reruns of The Last Ship.

I live in Fort Worth (Fort Worth > Dallas), and it is close enough already. If it can be contained to just Dallas, that would be fine with me.

Be careful. This virus seems to find away to break containment. I think the nurse in Dallas, and the five medical/aid work they brought back from Africa knew what they were doing...or thought they did...and all came down with the virus.
The number of medical personnel, who have contracted the virus, some leading experts in the field, makes me really question the wisdom of sending troops into the region? I know what people say about its spread, but I would love to hear what Nina Pham, the nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital had to say about this?

MSG Brad Sand , I would also like to know what Nina Pham has to say. I know that they are saying she probably broke some protocol and that is how she became exposed. If that is the case, how can we expect our military personnel to maintain the protocol without that same level of training?

Scary Question Brad, however, it is a necessary question. I am not sure how much is really known about Ebola, or how much we are being told. I feel that if our government doesn't start taking it more serious we could all have a Christmas gift we don't want.
So far this administration has spent more time down playing this disease, and not that it is here, trying to find somewhere to put the blame.
Ebola is on par, and so is the president, as another fine example of how bad we need someone who is a pro-active leader instead of a reactive golfer.

True MSG Brad Sand I just happened to see this thread and that news headline all about the same time this morning. Just got a news alert on my phone that the test results were negative, but again that was also the case with the guy that died in Texas originally.

Unfortunately, I believe that we, as a general population, will remain with more questions than answers yet again. With all the conflicting information on the disease and how easily (or not) that it can be transmitted, I'm not sure what to think.

MSG Wade Huffman ,
I hope you are right. I hope we are not pushed to learn too much about this outbreak.

The four hospitals or centers that are equipped to handle Ebola are Nebraska Biocontainment Patient Care Unit in Omaha, Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD and St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, MT. Heard today that the CDC will only use these four.

I guess Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital needs to up their game, because they were the 'lucky' winners so far? It is interesting, and troubling, that no military hospitals are on your list?

We were wondering where they went? One of the four that was unaccounted for...in Iowa, we take care of our own AND let our neighbors borrow a respectable name for their college sports teams because Bugeaters just will not do.
