How many college credits (if any) did you receive for your MOS or AFSC?

I was a medic and received 40 SH towards an Associate in Health Science from Coastline Community College. I only had to take 7 classes to graduate.

It all depends on what your Major will be in college. Some MOS credits won't matter at all for certain degrees. Talk to a school recruiter and they can tell you how many credits you will receive for your MOS.

Many years ago, I received graduate credit for military training and education including Air Force Flight Safety Officer Course from USC, Air Command and Staff and Air War College from Webster University. Other training or education I took may have been eligible for undergraduate credit, but I didn't pursue it because I already had a BS. The installation education office should be able to assist service members with determining college credit for Service training and education courses.

Active 38B course was 63 credits (including language school)
19D course was 8
Most NCOES courses are all worth different amounts, then different skill levels of MOS' award more too.
They also just reevaluated the JST and I got a lot more added.

That's what the JST said it was worth. Once I enrolled in Western Carolina University I started at 90 credits, with all the SSD, NCOES, 19D, 38B stuff and a few math and science at a Comm Coll, I only had to do 30 with WCU and boom - Bachelor's in Emergency and Disaster Management. Arizona State didn't award any Graduate credits, though...
ARSOF has a deal with Fayetteville Tech that once you acquire an MOS as CMF 18, 37, or 38, you only need to do 17 credits with them (usually the common stuff) and they award an Associate's.

Tiffin University in Ohio, I am still attending, in my Junior year now. I will have my 90 credits after this spring semester is over then I plan on dropping my OCS packet. I think I got 9 for 12B and the other 6 from SSD1 completion. The school is great to work with, they are a private school so the Guard Scholarship doesn't cover the entire cost, but the school as a program for actively serving members of the military and they cover the rest of the cost. I pay $0 for my college and take 5 classes a semester, only have to pay for books, which is covered by my GI BILL!

SSG (Join to see) Wow. That’s excellent!! It sounds like they have really done a lot of work to make the credit transfers possible...also, great to hear they are able to cover the costs that the Guard Scholarship doesn’t.

I had an excel sheet I kept for tracking since I was a 1LT. I ended up with:
58 Undergraduate Lower-Lever Credits
15 Undergraduate Upper-Level Credits
21 Graduate Level Credits.
I was able to get 15 graduate credits for ILE to count towards a masters program with CMU. UMUC also has a similar program.
For anyone looking for what you earned, it can be found on the links below. VMET game me the most accurate transcript.
1. The American Council on Education (ACE) has recommended credits on their website https://www.acenet.edu/news-room/Pages/ACE-Credit-Recommendations.aspx
2. You can also download your transcript from Joint Service Transcript https://jst.doded.mil/smart/signIn.do There is a Military Guide on the main website as well.
3. Verification of Military Experience and Training (VMET) https://ellsworthafrc.org/programs/transition-2/pre-separation-counseling-briefing/vmet/

0, zero, nada. However, I did receive 3 credits for Health & PE class just for being in the military. All Oregon colleges/universities do this and it'll save you anywhere from $300 to $500. There is also the challenge by exam thing for NCOs where you can get credits or use it to waive pre-requisites for leadership/business classes. But you have to write a super long essay (20+ pages) about your experiences, blah, blah. George Fox University is big on "prior learning" and will award up to 30 semester credits at no cost. They also have a accelerated bachelors program (18 months), but only if you have significant military experience they can transfer into college credit. They require a Joint Services Transcript or a American Council of Education transcript, plus super long essays detailing your experiences.

I received a fair amount of credits for my two CCAF degrees. The USAF program is outstanding. I wish the other services did the same thing.

Agreed. I’ve heard great things about CCAF. Did they award credits based on your AFSC?

Capt Brandon Charters Yes sir. Each AFSC gave me certain technical credits. Both as a Reprographics Specialist (a printing press operator - all of the services had us, we all did our A school at Ft. Belvoir) and as a Unit Education and Training Manager (only the USAF has an AFSC/MOS for training management - to my knowledge. All other services appoint a temporary training NCO/PO out of another job).
For my UETM CCAF, I didn't have any college classes to take since I had already completed the requirements for my first degree.
