I have two friends....very near and dear...one of 28 years and the other of 9 years....we agreed long ago not to discuss politics because we are totally opposites in this arena....so we agreed to disagree...the rest of my friends and family are all on the same page.

Wise choice. I have a brother that is estranged from the family (his choice) because of political discussions. Never thought I would see that in our family. I have another brother that refuses to discuss politics; which is a wiser course of action IMHO.

If they get to bore and antagonize me with their BS golf talk, whatever ball player news, whatever celebrity news ... I get to discuss politics.

None, I try (and usually succeed) to disagree with others the way I would want others to disagree with me. If I realize I've crossed the line I am willing to apologize for being right... I means rude.
