How many times do you give a National Guard Soldier a chance to pass the APFT, Two and out? On the other hand, do we just care about numbers?

@SFC Craig Markley I recall a overweight NG LTC reporting in for a school. He was 'returned to unit' and dismissed from the Guard.

Note to the above question.
Given that, a National Guard Solider has just two to 3 days, a month to do PT at drill. To me has little to no effect on the solider fitness. If nothing ells, it gets the solider sore and the solider losses three more days at home to start his or her workout. I focus on teaching the right form to the exercises. Along with dieting and watching there form. A example of this would be, at the end of a drill day back a the barracks we spend 30 minutes going over form, watch each other doing the sit up, push up and we do stretching. Its keeping them motivated to workout at home that is the biggest issue I run into.

BINGO! They get home, life gets hectic with work, school, whatever the distraction. Bottom line, they need to be motivating themselves because, as you said there's not enough drill time to properly PT. Always a big fight, kudos to you for seeking help advice.

Officially it's 2 and out, but saying that after the first failure some measures should be put in place. Ok so NG doesn't get as much time as active, but you're still a team and I'm sure there would be a few soldiers who would be willing to help outside of duty.
Depending on your MOS this could potentially cost lives and as such should be taken seriously. What good are you on the battlefield if you can't carry your load or keep up with the unit.

It would depend on how often they take it and how much they improve. I believe after the second consecutive is a good time to start the process if no improvement is shown.
