How many times were you supernumerary for army guard duty?

SSG Robin Rushlo, my experience with guard mount goes back to the 82d, from 1975 to 1978. Once I got the hang of it, I made supernumerary many times. They didn't have the four-time rule that you mentioned, but I got many tours of guard duty off for acing guard mount and being selected supernumerary. When I was a PFC, a SP4 who knew his way around a guard mount mentored me and taught me what I needed to know to follow in his footsteps. Those were good times.

As a Spec 4, Nine times in a row out of 27 times when I finally got the hang of it; had no idea it was one third of the time on Guard Mount (at the Military Police/Chem School/USAWACS). Had a really great First Sergeant and Commander who not only provided a letter of commendation, but took me off the guard roster so others could win. Made my day!! I always got stuck on the weekends. The rosters were rebooted and "C" was always on top of the new list...we had so many duties you barely had a free weekend. Still have my letter!

I only had formal guard duty once, at Ft. Gordon for AIT. I WAS chosen as super-numerary.
