The easiest answer would have to be if something happened to you or a loved one today...how long ago would you want them to go back to hear how you felt? I tell my wife of 29 years, and my boys (now all grown) every day that I love them and often how proud of them I am.

I believe you should tell them all the time. Tomorrow is NEVER promised to anyone and you don't ever want to lose them and cant remember when you last spoke to them. Or at least messaged or called and said you love them.

How often should we tell the people we care about that we love them?

You should say it every chance you get especially with being in the military or being in a service job like a police officer or a fire fighter. Really, everyone should be saying it.

Not enough!

Today I volunteered at a charity walk for a friend of mine who lost her granddaughter, 18 yrs old, just under 2 years ago. She was driving home to RI from Florida during her first semester of college and was killed in an auto accident. Just 45 minutes before, she stopped to gas up and called her mom and grandmother to update them on her trip home, none of them knowing it would be the last time they would ever speak. Truly tragic.

Every- damn- day- pilots put their lives on the line for quite a bit of time. Granted were safe pilots. But the adage you are more likely to get killed by a car than in an airplane accident holds very true... I got hit by a drunky in Octover and it totaled my car. Had I been one yard further I d probably be a dead man.

First phone call I made was to my parents to let them know I'm ooS second was to my grandparents. My best friends from church were right behind me, and they witnessed the whole thing. One was already on 911 the other was checking both of us for shock.

Point being it flashes very fast before your eyes. I still wake up sweating over that one .

I tell my wife and daughter that I love them everyday, I have been horrible at contacting my family in the U.S. by phone which I feel horrible about and am working on calling them more often. Like I always say, "We are not promised a tomorrow." So say it as much as you can. Because just like that, they could be gone.

My vote, SN Jeff Powell, is every chance we get and whenever we remember to. I have experienced a loved one being here today and gone tomorrow - unexpectedly - so I know how important this topic really is. It's for the sake of our loved ones, but also, really, for our own sake.

Good question!

All good answers! My family is the most important thing to me I have on Earth. I am no perfect man, but I do try to make sure my wife and kids know that they're valuable to me and I love them.
