You deserve to be; SFC Terry Fortune. Sergeant First Class is not an easy rank to make; for one thing.
And Sergeant First Class, I am very proud of you.

I am very proud of myself; for having served in the US Army. I have been called a hero. However, I believe that the real heroes are those that are/were KIA.

Yes and no. I'm proud of being able to be a part of the United States Marine Corps. That's something no can take from me and influences what I am and do to this day. But I am not proud to have gone to Iraq to help overthrow a sovereign nation, and impose "democracy".

Better take a deep look at yourself and figure out what you want from life. Unless your doing something illegal then anything you do should be done with pride.

I want consistency, and freedom. Neither of which are possible in the service.

SPC Aaron Hyatt, those are not reasons to not be proud, those are reasons for not understanding why you joined.
I would think that you would be have an idea before enlisting that the military is strict on discipline and nothing like the Hollywood movies. You obviously made a bad choice joining because you had some idea that the military is a 9 to 5 job which it is not.
Lots of people get their bubbles burst when they find out that you cant just go home anytime you want and that you have to abide by many rules and regulations that initially don't make much sense.
Good luck to you though and I hope you get what you want.
