Coming straight out of OSUT and arriving to your first unit. How likely is your unit/command to allow you to try out for SFAS? Is there a minimum amount of time needed to be at station before submitting a package for SFAS?

Your unit has nothing to do with attending any Assessment and Selection. It's completely up to you. You can attend A&S. You just wont PCS again until you complete 1 year Time on Station. Being Air Force changes some things, as you need conditional release and stuff, talk to your nearest SORB office.

SrA (Join to see) where are you located?
You may attend SFAS while still in the Air Force, so if you are not selected you just stay there and not have the craziness of needs of the Army. Put your packet through the SORB. If selected, you will enlist as an 18X, attend prior service basic/infantry AIT, then airborne, then q course

Im stationed at F E Warren AFB in WY. And I was not aware that I could go that route. I'll contact a local SORB and learn more information.

I walked into the recruiter office while I was still at reception at my first Duty station. You'll have to be on station for one year before you can PCS to the Q course unless you're already on Bragg

You say 1 year. Does that mean submitting a packet for SFAS and if im selected do I return back to my unit and complete the 1 year commitment before being able to PCS to NC for the Q course?

How soon after arriving to your unit out of AIT/OSUT can you try out for SFAS?

Wrong branch buddy! If you want to go SOF, look into the selection process for tacp, CCT, or PJ.

Once you get signed into your unit, you will be allowed to put in a packet for SFAS (if you meet the requirements). After you send the packet up you will have to wait for a slot to open up.

Seems to me you are using army terms as an AF SrA? I believe SGT Hallock has figured you out.

You are confused. If you want to be a tac-P or para rescue, then you try out in basic, not tech school and not at your first duty station.
