Actually he's got folks who pay close attention to what he's doing and make sure hes recognized for it. I tried to get my guys awards when they did outstanding things and just because the SNCOs didn't already have it they wouldn't forward my citation up. Saw another instance when SSgt told us we needed to start preserving our excess gear. Took the time to learn what needed to happen, got the supplies and the equipment, took the shop two weeks to get it all done. That same SSgt wrote himself a NAM for all the effort we did, we didn't get shit for it. Not that I did it for the award but it certainly would have been nice for the SSgt to recognize his guys' effort, after all that helped the shop in the long run.

However SSG (Join to see) ...lol...reading down, he does now have 6 Arcoms, so my comment would have worked.

SGT Hanner, roger. I did not know that. In that case, yes, you are correct a silver oak leaf cluster would be worn with the "V" device. Good catch.

SSG Redondo, I honestly didn't notice it at first either until after I realized that I miscounted and redacted my comment

I'm sure it has happened, but I never thought to research it when I was in. What happens when you have two ARCOMs with V devices?

A person is authorized only one "V" device per award even if they have received more than one of the same award with a "V" device.
For example, if in two different actions you received an ARCOM with a "V" device for each action then you would wear an ARCOM ribbon with a single "V" device and one Oak Leaf Cluster. If by chance in a third action, you were to receive a Bronze Star with "V" device then you would still wear the aforementioned ARCOMs as indicated but you would also wear a BS ribbon with a "V" device. Check out AR 600-8-22, Chapter 6.

SSG (Join to see) - If you have two with a V device and four other medals of the same medal, would you put one OLC on the V device and the others on the other ribbon?

SSG Trevor S., no. You would put a V plus 3 OLC on one ribbon then 1 OLC on a second ribbon. That is your six total. The V device just indicates you have at least one award with valor but you would have to look at the person’s ERB to see the additional ones.

SSG (Join to see) - You have to have 4 silver OLC to go break it out to a second ribbon right?

You would wear just one but with the highest rank for that award to the right along with however many oak leaf clusters. But if memories serves me correctly, I believe when you have 5 then you would wear one silver oak leaf. I might be wrong on that one. But for sure its the V Device then the 3oak leafs. But refer to AR 670-1 just for clarity hence there is always changes to ARs. Good luck.

IAW AR 670-1, page 278 29-12 Wear of appurtenances paragraph (b) can provide you a clear statement in which you are correct the way is in the picture.

b. “V” device. The “V” device is a bronze block letter, “V”, 1/4 inch high. It is worn to denote participation in acts of heroism involving conflict with an armed enemy. The “V” device is worn center on the suspension ribbon and service ribbon on the Air Medal. Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Joint Service Commendation Medal. Not more than “V” device is worn on with an oak leaf cluster or numerals, the “V” device is worn on the wearer’s right. Airborne

There is a silver oak leaf. Read deeper into the Regs. Never is anyone authorized two of the same ribbon or metal.

Find it kind of funny how you had use social media to get the answer to your question. That is what your chain of command is for. So since they didn’t help you, Ask A Navy Chief.

The unit I was in at the time was at the time was very small so when I asked people I got a variety of answers. Figured I would ask here and see if I could get a straight answer. Unfortunately it was the same thing, Everyone had their own interpretation.
