Matteo Milazzo not everyone who serves in an Armored Division is Armor. There are about 16000 in a Division, give or take. Most branches are in there. On the flip side, there are Armor officers through out the Army, even places without Tanks, like the 101st, 10th Mtn, and 82d. The RSTA Sqdns have 19 series people.
Are you looking being an Armor Branch Officer or serve in an Armored Division? You could be in an Armored Division and not be in an AR unit at the Co, BN, or BDE level.

I want to work with armor, so my ideal would then be armor branch officer, i dont really care what division im in. working with armor has been pretty much a dream of mine so i want to secure it as best as possible. im also unaware as to what what those last abbreviations stand for. nonetheless, thank you for your helpful response.

Matteo Milazzo if this is a lifelong dream, become comfortable with another Army Term - Maintenance

There’s no guarantee that you will get branched into armor. You have to get assessed after your junior year. Based on your GPA, PT score, extracurriculars, and your performance at advanced camp, you get picked for whatever branch the army decides you’re needed in. You get to rank the branches from highest to lowest preference. That being said, it doesn’t matter sometimes. I know someone who ranked infantry dead last and had a recommendation from their PMS to not put that person in the infantry branch and they still got infantry. Most of the people in my class got one of their top 3 picks so it’s pretty rare for that situation to happen, but it does happen. My advice is to excel in all your activities and rank armor as your number 1 choice, but be prepared that you might not get exactly what you want.

Matteo Milazzo There is not a formulaic solution to this. 2LT (Join to see) was right, those things factor into branch selection, but your mind set needs to be maxing our criteria, not trying hit a bar. ROTC is a structured competition. https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-do-i-choose-an-army-branch-a-framework
How do I choose an Army Branch?: A Framework | RallyPoint
The purpose of this article is to address one of the biggest Rally Point questions among Army ROTC Cadets: I am a with a major in , which branch should I choose? One of my goals is to help you filter through what you will get back. After all, don’t we all turn to the nameless, faceless internet trolls to determine our future? The immediate challenge is that the people responding are well intentioned but generally don’t know you from Adam....

obviously im not striving to hit the bar, as going above and beyond will only help me get my position that i desire. but knowing the avg for the people around me is always hepful and can keep a student sane
