How would you compare the interpersonal skills of male and female soldiers?

I would like to know what everyone's thoughts are on what male and female Soldiers contribute to the military as far as interpersonal skill sets. Example; some may say that women are generally better at paying better attention to detail and multitasking, as men are better at fixing issues and...................well.........not sure what else. Lets keep it professional.

Are you trying to stir up a S!#$ storm? Brother, I'm not touching this one with a 10 ft pole. As a daddy (3rd award) I KNOW that women can take pain better. As far as male bashing goes....I don't want to get in trouble with the "man-union" so I will sit back and watch the fireworks. Good luck with this live grenade.....lol.

As a female in a male dominant field (AFSF) almost everyone was an A type personality. Which made for interesting 12 hour shifts in a vehicle. I would say men show less drama (they have the same amount really, they just handle it differently) and physically, women are shorter than men.
That's about all I've noticed.
Either way, I'd trust most of my brothers and sisters in arms with my life when it came down to it, so gender doesn't matter...

SFC (Join to see), obviously there are many exceptions to every generality, but overall, I think that female Soldiers have greater empathy and are more open to communication, and most male Soldiers are more assertive and competitive than most female Soldiers I've known.

I think women should have the same physical requirements to join any branch. Other than that most women that I had served with were better at their jobs then men. I was helicopter mechanic and the women generally could fit in places men couldn't and had smaller hands that helped. Just my take on it

Good post. I was aiming at biological characteristics, not physical but that's fine. I completely support females in combat arms positions if they can indeed pull their own weight and are up to the task.

My belief has always been that there is a place for both males and females in the military, but also let's realize men aren't women and women aren't men. Yes, both sexes have their strong talents and we have to use them to the military's best interest. For me to blanket say one is better at this or that, I don't go there because there are always exceptions so just weigh each persons talent and put them where they best qualify. The military is a people business and all have a role in it. GREAT PROVOKING THOUGHT!

I'd rather see some actual evidence on this topic, garnered by objective criteria. Otherwise, it is just opinion. I acknowledge, also, that the SSG posing this question specifically asked for thoughts, not evidence.

Thank you, SGT. I read only the summaries, which I found interesting. The last, article, however, does not reference any published research, so I cannot "peer" review it, look at how the statistics were evaluated, etc., so it is only a start, and cannot, as of yet, be taken as research-base. FWIW, and only from memory, I think someone did a study a couple of decades back that concluded women are more G-tolerant than men. Of course, as we transition from piloted to pilotless aircraft, this becomes less relevant.
