Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

Find the worst job I can possibly think of and give him the choice of taking it from me or getting written up and getting that job for a week from the Chief or First Sergeant. If it went to our Commander, he would be an E1

Chain of command. This isn't Walmart. Might seem simple to a civilian. Orders are given. Orders are followed. In Garrison or In Combat. Doesn't make a difference. Never had any reason to get physical unless in defense. Words have power just like muscles. If that were me, that Pvt. would have been doing front, back, go's for days! And then he would have still completed his task given. Period!

The lack of overall leadership is evident by the observation how many of the formation maintains the order of "ATTENTION". I observe a failing military leadership scenario...in that the graphic pic indicates a DOD training environment (necks all over the place/sloppy appearance/Tennis shoes, lines on the deck, & squad bay atmosphere). If a combat situation...it is obvious the E2 not impressed by the fake "Senior E5" chop....

You have him drop and give you 50 push-ups and when he is done inform him he has extra duty for the next week. After the formation is dismissed (after he is done the 50 push-ups) take him into your office and find out what is malfunction is

I had a female in the bunk in basic next to me mouth off then tried to go over the Sgt head. Let's just say she was never touched physically but she ended up getting a ticket home less than half way through
