Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

Make an example out of him. Just in case someone else thinks it's ok to disrespect leadership.

A good CO, and I did know a FEW, would wanna know why mr. lippy was bein so sour, he's been in less than a year and new at this command or relatively so. While steppin on his neck might have personal benefits it would behoove you to find out JUST WHY THE FUCK IS THIS LITTLE SACK IS GIVING ME SHIT IN FRONT OF MY COMMAND? But do so AFTER formation in private. Whatever the out come, your men will see that you can be fair understanding and discreet if it turns out to be
Personal/family related and no nonsense boss if the kid just turns out to be a civilian imposter who just thinks he looks sharp in the uniform.

First off my subordinates would never do that (unless hung-over) and second we had wall to wall counseling when I served. I understand that today if you yell too loud you may have to answer for your treatment to a soldier or sailor to their congressman because you hurt their precious little feelings!
