Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

The problem is the new young Kats coming in are making things more difficult then what they even need to be anymore with smart remarks and back talk like it's ok. Do what you're told and move on with you're damn day .

He would be held back from formation along with his team leader and squad leader. They would be reprimanded for failure to train and lead their subordinates. My treatment of this PFC would depend on his attitude once the formation was dismissed. There is no such thing as a bad troop, only bad leaders and Instant obedience to orders is not just a cute sentiment, it's the law of the Marine Corps land.

I would call the MP's and have him arrested. I would submit the packet to let him spend a few weeks in military confinement, that will change his tune.

In the Navy I would hand his ass over to the Senior Chief and most likely his little smart mouth would end up at Captains mast.

First, the order will be repeated, if refused a second time, front lean and rest position move, if refused time to meet the C.O., afterwards if refused, time to make him her a civilian.
