We have a new 1SG and new commander. The 1SG noticed one day that only 5 people in the whole company showed up to PT. Now he put out to all the platoon Sergeants that everyone must show up to PT at either the 0530 formation or the 1600 formation.

However, my section is the only one in the hospital that has a 1600-0000 shift. I am being told by my first line that the 1SG says that I have to be at the morning formation, no exceptions.

I don’t want to sound like I’m whining but at the same time it’s unfortunate that I have to explain to myself as to why this isn’t right.

As a junior enlisted I do feel stuck.

How do I bring this issue up and solve this effectively and professionally?
Also: Do you know of any Army Regulations that can support anything?

You need to problem solve here. You need to change when you sleep. You can sleep from 0700 to 1430 and get 7.5 hours of sleep.

Problem solved.

Good thing everything is open from 0001 - 0400. I know I take care of everything between those hours because every business I need to access is open during those times. She is lucky, it works out for her. She can sleep when everything is closed and get stuff done while it's open.

Even in the Air Force we had to do things like this. It’s part of military life. I once worked an 1800 to 0230 shift and was required to attend pt in the morning at 0500. That was the only session offered and it was mandatory to attend. Granted I was single at the time and didn’t have any home obligations, I had to prioritize everything else around those two mandatory events (work and pt). Now I’m retired from the military, am married, have three small children, and have spend 11 hours a day driving to and from work and working. I wish I could get 6 hours a night. It’s all relative.

HM2. I spent time on the blue side and time on the green side. Green was pretty cool but very rigorous PTing with Marines and proving that “Doc could hang.”
Blue side often involved long hours In the hospital and late night duty etc. but we had incredibly good Navy chow , Pizzas and lots of beer in our off hours. Plus we got to sleep in warm beds with clean sheets and then hot showers. So a few of us Corpsman started looking a bit soft.
A similar concern may also be involved in your command’s decision to go apeshit over PT. Just sayin’

Just get up and do your PT and go back to bed. Don't make a big deal of it and you will get used to it.

I know that I was in a different situation but when I was last deployed, I worked 0600-1800 six days a week. I would get up at 0330 do personal pt, shit shower shave, eat breakfast then head to work. I would then get off, more personal pt., eat then have personal time until about 2130 when I hit my rack and sleep. That my friend was my late 40s.
