I am considering an online Doctorate program. Due to work and military commitments. Any suggestions?

I know several people that have done it through here. There is a limited residency but it is pretty easy to work with.

Sir, I just submitted my dissertation for mentor review through an online program. It can be rough at times as I feel that many of the professors are professors elsewhere and this is a side job. Hence it can be slower getting responses. However, my masters was online and it was great. It really depends on your need to have support from others/in person or not.

Check out the university. Some are not reputable. Many brick and mortar universities now have an online option. That might be better.

Okay, now lets take this to another level. What funding strategies have you found or used to pay for your doctorate/PHD?

I am looking at pursuing my Criminal Justice or Education degree through Walden starting next year. I have a subordinate that just completed his.

I think that it will depend on what type of Doctorate degree you are looking into. I've looked for an online doctorate for IT and the only one that I could find to fit my needs was UOP.

Check out some of the limited residency programs as well They typically require you to go to the campus for 1 weekend per year, or something like that. That tends to filter out some of the for profit schools.

Joseph,
Although for-profit universities are out to make a profit, they are also under stronger constraints to provide quality services and to provide a return on value for the cost of tuition. Most for-profit universities have outstanding writing centers, library staff, and additional programs such as career counseling. These are additional services which non-profit Us do not offer or do not offer in the extent the for-profit Us do. For-profit Us also have a different requirements to maintain their accreditation and work hard at doing so. I am enrolled in Walden University's Dr. of Business Administration (DBA) program and am thus far satisfied. The program is 98% on-line with only two 3-day residencies required. I did my residencies in Honolulu and Paris :-) I am on my fourth year in a minimum 3-year program, but that is also due to my lifestyle and pace. There are "minimum" credit hours which have to be met, but nearly no one completes a Dr. or Ph.D program in the minimum time. The DBA is structured differently than a traditional P.hD program which makes it shorter, simpler, and less expensive.

Southern Mississippi has an online Doctorate in International Development. Pace and Liberty both have online Doctoral-level Business degrees (Liberty has a couple of others as well). Carnegie Melon is rumored to have an online PhD in Public Policy, but I can't confirm it as that section of the website is a bit muddled. Salve Regina also has an flexible learning PhD that may work.
There are also a lot of EdD or PhDs in Education from schools that are quite reputable.
Colorado State has an online PhD in Systems Engineering and might have other options as well.
