There is a concerted effort by some folks here to paint all Muslims in a negative light. In fact a small but very vocal few refuse to believe anything other than their already-held belief that all Muslims are bad. I found a video on Buzzfeed I'd like to share and hopefully get some folks to stop being so close-minded.

PV2 Scott Goodpasture - Private; I chose good, honest government by people who actually put the interests of the people they govern ahead of lining their own pockets.
Taking the position that "Well, you can have either a corrupt and brutal dictator who will kill you whenever the whim strikes him or you can have a bunch of religious whack jobs and we will kill you whenever the whim strikes us - and you get to vote on it because that's democracy." isn't going to win any friends.

CPT Ahmed Faried - Thank you for posting that video, although I do not think a few people making comments about their alleged personal beliefs will do anything to change people's minds.
The problem I see with the negative impression of Muslims by many is that the vast majority do not speak up and decry the actions of radical Islamists, which, in many eyes, is tantamount to supporting those actions. Unless they start doing so, they will always be suspect. Whether that is fair or not, it is simply a fact. Only Muslims will change that by their actions... not by a few people who were paid to do so in a marketing video.

[1] Pakistan is NOT really one of the "Good Guys" (and hasn't been for decades [despite receiving support from BOTH Democrat and Republican administrations in the United States of America]).
and
[2] Daesh (and its ilk) are NOT just "at war" with "Christians" (or "Americans") but is "at war" with anyone who doesn't subscribe to their incredibly narrow, reactionary, and repressive interpretations of "Holy Books" - even with other people whose incredibly narrow, reactionary, and repressive interpretations of "Holy Books" matches their if those "others" don't subordinate their activities to theirs.

I think it is extremely important for people to realize they can't paint an entire religion with one brush and doing so only perpetuates more violence and issues as a result of misunderstanding.

Sage advice, LCDR (Join to see). Whenever I catch myself headed down this route, I always think back to the many good and decent people who just happened to be Muslims that I met while in Iraq; the ones who wanted nothing more out of life than you or I and risked the lives of themselves and their families to support us in defeating this evil.
