I Declined My Warrant Officer Selection... Can I Take It Back?

Is it possible to decline Warrant Officer selection, and then reverse that decision later on?
I was selected in the July 2015 board but I had just become engaged, my personal life was in flux, and we weren't sure whether the Army would work with my relationship, so I declined my selection... But now that we're married, we know that we can make it work. Is there any way that I can take it back??

My understanding is that once you have declined the offer to attend WOCS, you will have to reapply from scratch and your packet must be presented to the board for consideration.

Hmmmm I would talk to an additional source on that. I have a Soldier in my unit who declined his selection at the same time I accepted, and he was able to apply again when his circumstances changed a couple years later. .. of course, this was 7 years ago, so the regulations may have changed since then. ..

Chief, that was the answer I received from a SFC from the Warrant Officer Recruiting Team. Is there someone else that you would recommend that I speak to? It would seem that the Recruiting Team would be the ones to make the final call on this...

I know someone personally that declined after being selected due to family issues. One year later he reapplied and was accepted. So it is possible. I understand this post may be 2 years old, but for future soldiers, it IS possible.

Hope your side is more forgiving that it was on my Navy side in the day. Turning something down tells the board you really didn't want it in the first place. Saw that in Millington. However, if the SM was exceptional then it could be overcome. So make sure your input doesn't give the impression that you just got over a head case. Good luck.

A Reservist can resubmit a packet even if they were previously selected but declined school attendance. Situations change.

Sergeant Major, even though I am Active Duty, and I wish to remain on Active Duty, is it possible to apply for Warrant Officer through the Army Reserve, yet stay on active status? I know that W01s are assigned to the Army Reserve in an active status and switch back over to Active Duty when they are commissioned as CW2s, but is it possible to apply as an actual Army Reserve Warrant Officer yet fully serve in an active status after commissioning as a CW2?
Another issue is that the population of my WOMOS (352S) in the Army Reserve is very small if it isn't actually zero...

I don't believe that would be possible. There are AGR Warrant officers. I dont think they have them in your specialty. I can have one of my WO recruiters look into it for you. Why don't you send me a separate email. [login to see]

Im not sure, although i will say since the timing may not have been right and the reserves seems to need warrants now may be the perfect tome for this type of thing. I would contact my local warrant recruiter asap. Good luck

MSG(P) (Join to see) - wow....really??? Is there somekind of regulation stating this?

I absolutely couldn't find anything in any regulation relating to my situation - hence why I asked my question here. They told me that there are no exceptions to the policy, whatsoever, for any reason. Nevertheless, I'm going to talk to my chain of command and see if they can do anything about it. I know that my brigade commander would back me up, and surely that must be worth something...

Keep pressing. If for some reason you cant pursue further, have you considered OCS?

I've briefly considered OCS, but I can't really see myself as a "regular officer" for lack of a better term. That track doesn't really fit me. Plus I'd need a waiver for being too old... I'm 34. But thank you for the advice!

Most programs and sections if you are accepted and decline they will not let you reapply in the future. It would have to be a hell of a good reason, but maybe you can get an exception. Good luck.

I learned in life "don't burn bridges you might want to cross again" With all the down sizing and such, even replying from scratch(which I believe you got to do), if I was a board member, I'd have serious questions about approving it.

You could try but when a panel looks at it they will be less than willing to commit due to your past packet getting declined. Life does get in the way but that is same for a lot of us. It is not what you want to hear but it is what it is. I had a soldier turn down SSG in my unit. After he did that my opinion of him changed. I would rather have a gun that is chomping at the bit than one that has to has to think about it after he submitted the packet.

Make sure you give a good explanation about the situation in the Summary section of the
USAREC Form 3.2 (Warrant Officer Resume). I'm sure your accessions NCO will tell you the same thing.

What I'm asking Sergeant is whether my decision can be reversed and I be placed on orders for WOCS... I should also mention that my WOMOS is critically short right now. I want to know if my selection from eight months ago can be "revalidated" without me having to reapply from scratch all over again...
