Should RP introduce an "opt out" option for certain requirements of profile completeness?

Seems like a fair point, SSG Christopher Adame. As military folks, a lot of us (you included, I assume) want to excel or at least meet the standard, and it's impossible to meet the 100% standard without a Facebook account. Have you considered creating a vanilla FB account, just for this purpose? That might be a workaround.

Agreed, TSgt Hunter Logan.

I do aim to succeed and exceed, but not by "checking the boxes" for the sake of checking boxes. If I'm going down my checklist, I want to make sure that I am applying fully. Facebook is just not something I find as a requirement of success.

I've had a Facebook and it was fun at the time. But for where I am at now, I do not want a fake one, a real one, a vanilla one or a chocolate one. But thank you for the suggestion, CW5 Scott Montgomery.

I agree with you TSgt Hunter Logan.

SSG Christopher Adame, this is a good suggestion. While I think it would be nice to have an opt-out feature for those who don't have Facebook, I also think that the current design provides a strong incentive for those who do have a Facebook account.

On a related note, I viewed your profile and found it to be very professional. If you had a brief description for each of your various assignments, your profile would be worthy of a Blue Ribbon.

SPC T, how can I earn that coveted blue ribbon? Can you tell me where I'm short?

SFC Seth King, your profile is fairly thorough and well above average. If you could add descriptions for your assignments at JBLM and your current assignment, you'd be good to go!

From the RP guidelines: "Career experiences must have detailed descriptions, not just list out the titles. These descriptions can be copied directly from your performance reports or summarized. If you have deployments, a description of each deployment is also expected."

SGT (Join to see) I have taken you up on your advice and updated my assignments. What I am more proud of though, is I learned how to mention people! It's on RP!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

We keep linking Facebook and inviting friends to join RallyPoint as a percentage of profile completion in order to encourage our members to help the site grow. Although not being able to reach 100% profile completion may be a bother to some trying to 'meet the standard,' there's nothing requiring 100% completion. There may be some incentive with influence points, but members may earn Blue Ribbons, become Member Admins, etc. without it.

MAJ Laurie H. I understand that there is no 100% requirement. I also appreciate your response. I just think it is a disservice to members to be kept from 100% due to something as frivolous as a FB page. I'd be fine foregoing the influence points for a 100% completion if it meant I could simply opt-out of something I do not have and have not intent of having, yet still be able to not be "sub-standard."
