I have a 8 year NG contract, 6 active uniform, 2 IRR. I want to be 100% done and avoid IRR. If I go ING will that count as my 2 IRR years?

This makes no sense at all. I don't believe ING works like that. You usually go ING during your drilling time in the Guard and those years you are ING will be added to the end of the your contract. In all honesty I think you may want to reconsider what your intent is on this. I still don't understand why still you would want to do ING over IRR.

I got some bad advice early in my career, CPT (Join to see) and was assigned to the ING for one year. What a huge mistake. It's like being in suspended animation and no retirement points accrue. I had completed my initial obligation so I can't speak to adding the lost time to one's initial contractual obligation. PFC (Join to see)

Yes, as an enlisted soldier, you can chose to go ING rather than IRR for a 6x2 contract. Here is a link.
