I have a soldier with an ETS date is in 20 days, and the command wants to give him a PT test. Does the soldier have to do it/pass or fail?

Is this a special PT test for this soldier or is it part of unit training (the entire company is taking a PT Test)? If the latter, what excuses the soldier from participating in unit training until he begins installation clearance?

Personally I would just do the test cause I could pass it in my sleep literally running backwards. But thats just me. But to me that seems like someone does not like him and is trying to get him mad enough to screw up so they cans screw with him more. I mean 20 days and he is gone forever and he does not have to do a PT test to go to civilian life.

My Command tried to do the same thing to me with 31 days before clearing for Retirement, after almost 28 years of service (27y,11m,17d). I went to the Div HQ's IG, showed where I had just passed an APFT less then 4 months earlier. I said policy says every 180 days and I'm inside that window. The LTC I spoke to there agreed, had me sit down, personally typed a Ltr to my Cdr stating I was excused from the requirement and if he had any questions to contact him at the Div IG Office. 'Nuf said.
