I have a soldier with an ETS date is in 20 days, and the command wants to give him a PT test. Does the soldier have to do it/pass or fail?

the soldier has to take the pt test put the soldier can lose 20 pounds in in 20 days but i have to be there to watch the soldier at all times so Thats it.

The soldier doesn't have to lose any weight, he is ETSing in less then 20 days and they tried to force him to take an APFT. Seeing as he is within 20 days he should have had his Phase 2 ETS Physical and there exempt from all strenuous activity where might injure himself.

he or she has to pass the pt test or there out unless there close then you can pass the put he or she can pass the test in 3e0 day can loss the pounds easy just do not eat or I have to be there to watch you every step you can lose 30 pounds in 30 days i won lost pounds contest 3 times so do not tell me it cant be done so there.

Soldiers aren't required to complete a separation physical test IAW AR 40-501 para 8-24 a&b. You can take terminal leave and just return for your out-processing.

The majority of the folks here are correct: command is screwing with him.
Assuming he actually is a dirtbag, if he hasn't been bad enough to give a disconnected or even general discharge, he's met his enlistment requirements and you need to ask the readiness NCO to back off.
Also, who knows, maybe the soldier will learn from your example of going to bat for him and become a better citizen as a civilian.

1SG Lucero is correct If you are within 30 days of ETS, and you've taken your final physical, you are not suposed to do PT. on the predence you could hurt your self.. and be extended past your ETS date.

Debatable, BUT. If that person is even remotely considering some follow on career in the Reserves or Guard, I would highly recommend they perform it. It cant hurt to have a final passing PFT on the books. Just my .02 When I got back in, I had to jump through giant hoops to get back in because I poo-pooed some things when I left active that would have made the transition easier. Hindsight is 20/20...

Hmm, I guess I originally read this in the aspect of providing an individual EAS'ing with better future opportunities. If, however, this was an individual better off slipping quietly into the night, I wouldn't have them push a broom, let alone requiring a PFT.
Picture this, Leaders:
Individual 20 meters into the run: "Oh GOD! My ankle! My hamstring! Now I've fallen! My shoulder! My back! I can't see straight! Medic!!!"
Me: "FML."

If he is/she Ordered to take PT test, the answer is yes. He/she is still under UMCJ! 1st Sgt. David Akerson, retired.
