I have a soldier with an ETS date is in 20 days, and the command wants to give him a PT test. Does the soldier have to do it/pass or fail?

Being that he ETS is in 20 days he should’ve had his final physical. The Soldier cannot participate in unit PT or PT test. This is a sad example of leadership failures and its way to common right now.

prob harassing however they have to satisfy their regulatory obligations- if the unit is doing PT test then he has to do it - til he is out ( what if there is a stop loss and unit is called to combat?)

It has been a while, but if a servicemen is within 30 days of his EAS, they are exempt from partaking in any type of PFT.

Tell him to break his leg and get held after his ETS date. The extra $80 per day or so they have to pay him will come out of one of the unit's lines of accounting meaning the commander and the soldier's NCOw will have hell to answer for.

I would say if he is a squared away soldier and can pass the PT test what does he have to lose by giving them one more? On the other hand if they are looking for a reason to muddy him up before he goes because he is not squared away I think that's a totally different story. I gave a PT test 3 days before I went on transitional leave, it didn't bother me a bit, I maxed it and didn't think anything of it. You'll have to let us know the outcome.

It all depends. Did he pass he his last pt test? If not to close his tour, remember all military personnel have an 8 year obligation, the command may want to ensure his transition to IRR and be current. If he passed and it is within 6-months then he is being harassed!

If he started out processing, PT Test is unnecessary and shouldn't be required.
