Technically speaking if he has not completed his out processing physical he can still be ordered to take the PT test and pass according to standards. However it would be interesting to see what type of fuck fuck games the coc pulls if he failed.

Typical Army question... A Marines would never ask that question but good luck anyway.

LCpl Woody Williams - I beg to differ, the Marines I trained with at Jump School and Parachute Rigger school were polished at complaining. talented I might say.

the day before my last day in uniform I took my last APFT. No big deal, and I hurt myself. Suddenly I'm faced with an LOD and having to stay, or just smile and carry on. My advice, don't take the chance.

Regardless of the ETS date, a soldier (officer and/or enlisted) has to obey orders. I am a retired officer and had to take a PT test within two weeks of retiring, simply because it was required by regulation.

Here’s the thing, there is absolutely no regulation that states you are are exempted from taking a semi-annual APFT at any point up to the day before your ETS date, or the day prior to your terminal leave start date. I was told in 7 out of 8 years that as long as I had my ETS physical I would be exempted from any further PT or APFTs to avoid any injuries. Needless to say I ETS’d and less than 2 months from my terminal leave start date (about 3 months from ETS in total), I was tagged for an APFT. I had obviously completed my ETS physical months prior and thought I was golden. I went digging to find this somewhere in regulation and checked as many reference sites as possible. Unfortunately I came upon the fact that, no matter the common misconception, there is absolutely no reg supporting the rumor. I gathered that, pretty much, until you have a final copy of your dd-214 you are expected to meet the standards.

I have a PT test the month before my retirement at age 53 and I still took it. It was a unit scheduled event and I was still a member. Nobody said anything either way.

We had just gotten back from Desert Storm a couple of months earlier when a man in my unit failed a PT test. It didn't seem to matter that he was going to ETS in less than 2 months. He was counseled about it and ordered to do remedial PT for 30 days. It might not have been his smartest move but he blew it off. Anyway, he got busted from E4 to PFC for disobeying a lawful order. I just didn't see a point in going through all that when the man was getting out anyway.
