These publications intentionally give the armed services a bad name, for the sole purpose of selling their product.

Doesn't the Army Times have an "Answers by RallyPoint" section?

Keep in mind that these are news outlets. Gannett, their publisher, makes money from advertisers and if the product isn't selling by writing about news, then the advertisers aren't buying either. I take everything these newspapers has to say with a grain of salt. If I was offended by the inaccuracy or pure opinion published in the Navy Times, I would have written a letter to the Editor several times over.

Not sure how an armed services paper aimed at SMs can give the very same armed services a bad name? Do you mean it gives the service a bad name to a civilian reading the paper who doesn't understand the military?
