Hey guys, I'm a 91G right now, and I'm reclassing to 14H. The MOS is too short to do a PCS move with my family. My question is, after graduation will they send me back to Carson to get my family then send me to my new duty assignment. I've asked around my unit and no one has a clue.

Thanks in advance.

Plus I'm promotable and 14h points are wicked low. I'll be promoted very quickly.

SPC(P) (Join to see) - Remember the new NCO promotion standards, you need WLC, Civilian Education, SSD1 and good PT score and military educations (Skillport).

You are only partially right if yourcutoff score is low enough all you really need is to go to the promotion board, pass and go to wlc and pass. That is a big issue in the army certain mos s need to jump through hoops to get promoted while others just do the bare minimum and they make Sfc, but nothing wrong with our promotion system lol

Fort Sill, OK. Good luck and have fun. No, they wouldn't move your household goods from Carson to Sill just for a short school. Your school which your Career Counselor should've given you a packet on is about 12 weeks. Unless you have requested that during your reclass with the Counselor, your Needs of the Army. By the 7th week of training you should get orders of a new duty station with a follow on to Carson to clear or you could stay there and be at a ADA unit.

I accidentally responded to anther comment. To answer your question you will return to get your family before going to another duty station. Also as far as duty stations go you can go to a number of cool places after you leave. Hawaii, Japan, Germany , Korea, fort bliss, fort Bragg just to name a few. I am currently an AIT instructor feel free to ask anymore questions.

Are you allowed to request your assignment even though it’s known that it may not be granted. My son is in basic training at Ft . Leonard Wood at this time as a 14H now . He leaves for Fort sill in September. Just trying to understand his job and if he has any flexibility and what he can choose although I do understand the needs of the army.

The only reason I’m asking is because I know he’s interested in space command

Laurie Sherman Yes as a 14H there is a slim chance you could get Fort Carson or Peterson. Usually not on your first assignment though.

You will most likely be able to go get your family. Unfortunately for Air Defense there's not many places we can go to unless you get lucky and get JTAGS like Chief said.

You could also end up PCSing to a JTAGS location under SMDC after you finish reclassifying. All depends on your communication with your Assignment Manager, which I suggest you do sooner rather than later.
