Didn't notice the more details area.

My main question would be that what should I expect the second time around going in as prior service. What is it like going back to basic with a combat deployment. How are you treated and so on. I'll be going back for my same MOS as a 19K and had to the one station unit training the first time. Will I be going through normal basic the second time or will I go through OSUT again?

Well I just came from the unit across from 1-81 which is where you'll be going. Some things to expect is to see a lot of counseling for every little thing that you or the other Trainees do. There is no more "quitting". at least in my unit, (Not sure if it was BDE policy) but if you try to quit you'll get a FG Art 15 45/45. Then you'll get recycled. Rinse and repeat. The current CMD team there is all about "trimming the fat" before sending Soldiers to the line. Also it would be in your best interest to get into shape before you go. There are people who show up who can't even do a single push up correct, so if you show up able to PT, and look like you know what you're doing things will be good for you. Who knows you might even get a weekend pass here and there.

One thing I noticed between the time I went through in 1982 and when I saw someone go through in 2007, Article 15's for everything in 2007. In 1982 they would not try to keep you unless they felt they could get you up to speed by courses end. If not they would just boot you out. Drill Sergeant would make the decision if you stayed or went and the training 1SG would just be a rubber stamp. Very, very few Article 15's then. So I don't get the new policy of Article 15's and counseling statements other than they want a paper trail now. Only recycles we had in 1982 were final PT test failures and Medical issues....everyone else was booted out.

We had a few recycles, they were injured during training. A few who failed PT were in this limbo area. Not recycled but not graduated. They did a form of remedial PT as I understand it until they could pass then were sent to a Company that would be graduating soon and went in with them until they finished.

Thank you all for the replies and help, my recruiter pulled some vodoo and got them to go off my IRR release date and not my ETS date so they are no longer sending me back to basic. Kinda wish they were as my flabby ass could not pass a PT test any more but I guess that just means I need to get to work. And to answer a few of my own questions for anyone else looking for info on this subject. The info they gave me is that because I am MOS trained already they would not have sent me back to OSUT but would have instead sent me to a normal BCT unit. I would have also lost a single rank putting back down as a PFC

I am actually surprised they are sending you through a standard OSUT training and not a PS reclass training? The reason they do not want to send PS through standard OSUT/BCT training is because YOU are too dangerous. You know too much. My experience is that you need to expect to be treated greatly different than the standard trainees. Do not even be surprised if you are barracked in the day room and basically left to your own devices when not training? Also, be prepared to be shunned by other trainees and Drill Sergeants...hope I'm wrong but have heard those type of stories.

MSG (Join to see) - CID and MPI who are conducting an investigation utilizing an assimilated identity are under no obligation to respond honestly if questioned about their identity. The point is to fit in, not stand out by exhibiting advanced knowledge or higher rank. We used to call it dumbing down to gather investigative leads.
