I have been out of the army for four years now. Got out as a E5 Becuse of a failed or test. I did 6 years total. I'm thinking about joining the national gaurd here in Montana. Here are my questions.
1) can I get back in even with the PT discharge?
2 can I keep E5
3) do they reissue cammies, pt, and dress uniforms
4) can I still use my GI bill if I join up
5 do i have to go back to basic
Thank you

I’m positive that you will have to do the prior service basic training in Fort Leonard wood, it’s 6 weeks long. Anything longer than a 3 year break in service and they’ll have to send you there.

I’m speaking from helping a friend re-enlist into the National Guard who had prior military service as well. And he had a break in service for more than 3 years, and he was told that he would have to attend bct.

It can all depend on your state as well when it comes to the National Guard. I didn't have to and I had a five-year break in service.

All depends on what the recruiter says, and can do for you.

In regards to #2, I'm guessing the biggest factor in whether or not you keep your rank will probably come down to if you have completed BLC/WLC/PLDC since it is required for promotion to SGT now. As everyone else has said, a recruiter can give you the best answers to all of these question. Best of luck with the whole process.

Ok here is the deal. I have been out of the army for four years now. Got out as a E5 B ecuse of a failed or test. I did 6 years total. I'm thinking about joining the national gaurd here in Montana. Here are my questions.
1) can I get back in even with the PT discharge?
2) can I keep E5?
3) do they reissue cammies, pt, and class A uniforms?
4) can I still use my GI bill if I join up?
5) would I have to go back to basic (not a big deal just wondering)?
6) any other tips tricks or thing I should know on this subject?
This is the full question as of now
Thank you for your time.
